As I return home from another trip to India, I can't wait to follow up and see the dear women that I work with here in Los Angeles!
I've taken criticism over social media about helping women and children in India, when we have such a need in the United States. And yes, I agree that you should help "home" first, to which I do. And we are a blessed country to have government programs that help out our homeless here. If you don't work with the homeless or at-risk, you might not be aware of how many programs are funded by our government. It's such a blessing! Many times the homeless don't want the handout. It's very sad but true.
Yet, in India, there are zero government programs. The government doesn't help and their culture in general doesn't believe in helping outside of their extended family. The poor are a culture of zero hope. It is heartbreaking! Many parents have the attitude that they just want prayers for their children to be blessed because it's "too late" for themselves.
And this is why, in addition to working with women in Los Angeles, we fly to the other side of world. EVERY woman, EVERY mother, has a God given right to hope. And if no one else is interested in bringing this message to them, we will! Our Los Angeles moms have our help 11 months out of the year. We don't feel the slightest bit guilty for spending one month of hope somewhere else. And when we share our photos of Indian moms with our Los Angeles moms, it makes them realize how blessed they are to live in the USA.
Keep us, and our Los Angeles, client's in prayer this week! It is our prayer that some of them will receive their breakthrough as we share our past few weeks in India with them.
