We have been serving homeless women in Los Angeles for over 10 years. We haven't lost our compassion, as a matter of fact it only seems to increase! It's truly a blessing to show the love of Jesus in our community.
We are now being called to a broader show of love. The Bible tells us to "go" and make disciples, not to "stay" and make disciples. So I'm personally heading to India to form a partnership with an Indian orphange in Hyderabad. Most indian girls, when born into a poor family, are named "Unwanted." That is their literal name given to them. Poor Indian families want sons who can take care of the aging parents and look for work. Daughters are viewed as costly and hard to marry off. Many of these girls end up on the streets and die at an early age.
Thankfully some cities are holding name changing ceremonies for girls who have the name Unwanted. These girls get to pick their own names, and it is changed legally. This is such a source of joy for them and a brand new beginning. And in this new beginning, we want them to know that Jesus loves them. We also want them to know that they are cared about SO MUCH, that we were willing to travel half way around the world to tell them so.
The disciples of Jesus traveled a lot! And in their day transportation wasn't easy. But they were so passionate about sharing the Gospel they did whatever they needed to in order to spread it across all lands. We should do the same. Pink Pixie believes that NO girl should ever have the name Unwanted. This is one reason why the partnership with this orphanage is so important to us.
Many generous donors have contributed to our India Outreach. With only 6 weeks before our trip, we are still short by $1400. If you want to take part in changing the life of a girl in another part of the world, donate today. This is a priceless opportunity to change a life!
