I've been saying it for over 10 years but it's still true... working with women in homeless shelters is a blessing to ME. It's such an honor to be a part of their lives while they are searching for a better life.
This week I've had the blessing of teaching and mentoring a new mom. She has a beautiful daughter who is perfect in every way. We rarely get to see new moms who really dote on their babies. But this new mom is quite aware of the special and precious gift that God has given her.
During our time this week, this tiny little newborn turns her head in mom's direction when she hears her voice. It's accompanied by a sweet smile and eyes that still can't focus. Mom, in return, stops mid-sentence to speak directly to her little one, tell her how beautiful she is, and how much she is loved. It is this perfect moment between mother and daughter that I'm honored to witness.
When most people hear of a new mom in a homeless shelter they think it's sad and thoughts of hopelessness develop. However, that's rarely ever the reality of our clients. When our clients give birth, they are more motivated than ever to change the course of how they've been living their lives. And this mother is no exception.
God redeems everything. And with this mom, God is heaping blessings upon blessings into her life. When God is present nothing is hopeless. Please join us in prayer as we continue to work with this kind, loving, and gentle mother.
